Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
EYAMI EDIT (PTY) LTD (“Eyami Edit”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”) and other applicable South African laws.
1. Responsible party
EYAMI EDIT (PTY) LTD, registration number 2026/497128/07, is the responsible party for personal information processed through the Eyami Edit website and creator platform. Privacy and Information Officer enquiries may be sent to [email protected].
2. Scope
This policy applies to website visitors, creator applicants, approved creators and other people whose personal information is processed through Eyami Edit. Third-party retailers, Meta, Instagram and other external services have their own privacy practices, which are not controlled by Eyami Edit.
3. Information we may process
Depending on how you use Eyami Edit, we may process:
- identity and contact information, such as your name, email address and account details;
- creator-application information and approval status;
- profile information, photographs, biography, website and social-media links;
- creator-supplied audience or follower information;
- products, collections, descriptions, images, prices and external store links that you submit;
- Instagram or Meta account identifiers and information you authorise Meta to share with us;
- comments, trigger words, reply settings and message information needed to perform requested automations;
- click, referral, collection and feature-usage information;
- technical information such as IP address, browser, device, log and cookie information, where collected; and
- communications, support requests, consent records and deletion requests.
4. Where information comes from
We may receive personal information:
- directly from you when you apply, register, create content or contact us;
- from Meta or Instagram when you actively connect and authorise your account;
- automatically through your use of the website and its security, cookie or analytics tools; and
- from publicly available creator profiles or lawful business sources where relevant to an application or enquiry.
5. Why we process information
We process personal information to:
- receive and assess creator applications;
- create, secure and administer accounts;
- publish creator profiles, products and collections at the creator's direction;
- connect authorised social-media accounts and perform selected automated replies or messages;
- provide click, engagement and platform information;
- operate, troubleshoot, secure and improve the service;
- communicate about the pilot, service changes, support and account matters;
- prevent fraud, misuse and security incidents;
- comply with legal, regulatory, tax and recordkeeping obligations; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
6. Lawful grounds
Depending on the circumstances, we process information with your consent, to perform or prepare for an agreement with you, to comply with a legal obligation, or where processing protects a legitimate interest of Eyami Edit or another person and does not unjustifiably interfere with your rights. You may withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the applicable ground.
7. Instagram and Meta information
Eyami Edit accesses only the permissions and information authorised through the Meta connection process and required for enabled features. This may include account identifiers, permitted media or interaction information, comments and messaging information needed to identify a trigger and send the reply selected by the creator. Eyami Edit does not ask for or store your Instagram password.
You may disconnect Eyami Edit through the relevant Instagram or Meta account settings. Disconnecting stops future access when the authorisation is revoked, but does not necessarily delete information already held by Eyami Edit. To request deletion, follow our Data Deletion Instructions.
8. Sharing of information
We may share information only as reasonably necessary with:
- hosting, database, email, security, analytics and technical service providers acting for us;
- Meta or Instagram where required to operate the connected feature;
- professional advisers, auditors, insurers or prospective investors subject to appropriate confidentiality;
- regulators, law-enforcement bodies or other parties where required or permitted by law; and
- a successor or buyer in a legitimate restructuring, merger or sale, subject to applicable law.
We do not sell personal information. Following an external shopping link may allow the third-party retailer to collect information under its own privacy policy.
9. Cross-border processing
Some technology providers or connected platforms may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the transfer is permitted under POPIA, including through appropriate contractual safeguards or transfers to recipients subject to adequate data-protection rules.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
Eyami Edit may use necessary cookies to keep the website secure, remember sessions and provide requested features. If optional analytics or marketing cookies are used, users will be given the information and choices required by applicable law. Browser settings can be used to block or remove cookies, although some features may then not function correctly.
11. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide the service, resolve disputes, maintain security and backups, and meet legal or recordkeeping obligations. Information is deleted, destroyed or de-identified when it is no longer required, subject to lawful retention requirements.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information. No online system is completely secure. If we become aware of a security compromise affecting personal information, we will take the steps required by POPIA, which may include notifying affected people and the Information Regulator.
13. Your rights
Subject to POPIA and any lawful limitations, you may ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold your personal information;
- provide access to that information;
- correct or update inaccurate or incomplete information;
- delete or destroy information that we are no longer authorised to retain;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; or
- stop direct-marketing communications.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Requests may be sent to [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator at https://inforegulator.org.za.
14. Children
Eyami Edit creator accounts are intended for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly invite children to create creator accounts. If you believe that a child's personal information has been collected inappropriately, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or legal obligations change. The latest version will appear on the website with its updated date. We will take reasonable steps to notify approved creators of material changes.
